ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Longhorns got off to a fast start against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 championship game in Arlington and hasn’t looked back. UT’s quarterback Quinn Ewers has been a big reason.
In just their first two possessions, the Horns’ signal-caller was 6-for-6 for 121 yards and two touchdowns for a passing rating of 379.4. He finished the first half with 354 yards and four touchdown passes. Those four scoring strikes ties a Big 12 championship record for most TD passes in a half.
By the third quarter, Ewers was over 400 yards passing, which set the new record for passing yards in a Big 12 Championship game, breaking Sam Bradford’s record of 384 yards in 2008.
Quinn Ewers has now set the all-time Big XII Championship Game record for passing yards, and it’s still the 3rd quarter. He’s got 404 yards on the day.
The previous record was held by OU’s Sam Bradford, who threw for 384 yards in 2008.
