Texas Rangers arrest woman accused in China Grove death investigation

A San Antonio woman is facing murder and evidence tampering charges in connection with a Texas Rangers investigation into a death in China Grove.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio woman is facing a murder charge in connection with a Texas Rangers investigation into a death that began in China Grove earlier this year.

Court records show Abigail Marie Molina is charged with murder, a first-degree felony, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, a third-degree felony.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, investigators were called to the Old Path Baptist Church in China Grove in January after Gilbert Parker was found seriously injured inside a maintenance shed. He was taken to a San Antonio hospital, where he later died.

The affidavit states investigators observed blood evidence throughout the shed and noted that church parishioners may have entered the scene afterward and discarded or cleaned up possible evidence before law enforcement could fully process the area.

An autopsy later revealed Parker suffered severe head injuries, and investigators believe the fatal wound may have been caused by a blunt object.

Texas Rangers say a construction hammer with what appeared to be blood was later recovered from a drainage culvert near Molina’s residence.

Molina is also accused of attempting to conceal evidence connected to the case. The allegations have not been proven in court, and the investigation remains ongoing.
