ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers paid tribute to a season ticket holder’s granddaughters, who tragically lost their lives at Camp Mystic during the devastating Hill Country flood.
During the top of the third inning of the Rangers’ game against the Detroit Tigers Friday night, broadcasters highlighted the team’s gesture. Four ribbons were placed on seats belonging to season ticket holder John Martin in memory of his twin granddaughters, Hanna and Rebecca Lawrence. The girls were among more than 100 people killed in the flood.
According to the broadcast, Martin frequently brought Hanna and Rebecca to games at Globe Life Field.
In addition to showing support for Martin and his family during this difficult time, the Rangers launched a “Together For Texas” campaign, selling T-shirts for a minimum $25 donation. All proceeds will go toward recovery efforts in the flood-affected areas.
Across the state, people are placing green ribbons on trees in memory of Camp Mystic’s flood victims. Many could be seen in North Texas, placed across Highland Park, as “numerous” students were impacted by the flood in some way.
