
Seaman Angelina Resendiz’s remains will return to her hometown with full military honors this Friday at Valley International Airport.
BROWNSVILLE, Texas — The remains of Seaman Angelina Resendiz will return to her hometown with full military honors this Friday at Valley International Airport in Harlingen, Texas. The ceremony is scheduled for 8 p.m.
Resendiz’s mother, Esmeralda Castle, shared that the public is welcome to attend and asked those joining to wear white in a show of unity and remembrance.
A funeral service for Resendiz will be held Thursday, June 27, at 5 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brownsville.
Following the service, a candlelight vigil will be held to honor her memory.
The family is inviting the community to help celebrate Resendiz’s life, service and sacrifice.
Family, friends and loved ones continue to push for a thorough investigation into the death of Resendiz, a 21-year-old sailor stationed at Naval Station Norfolk.
She was reported missing in late May, and her remains were found on June 9. Officials say another sailor is in custody in connection with the death and that charges are pending.
