Ori Mays was arrested on campus and was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

SAN MARCOS, Texas — A 19-year-old student at Texas State University was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault.

The Texas State University Police Department sent out a campus-wide warning regarding the incident after it was reported on Tuesday.

Ori Mays is accused of spitting on a student and pulling out a knife outside residence halls, according to police.

No physical injuries were reported.

On Wednesday, police apprehended Mays on campus.

“I mean, it’s an open campus, people come and go. I think it’s kind of scary but I’m glad that it was dealt with quickly and we got emails about it during the situation and a follow up of what happened after,” said Liam Arney, a TXST junior. “I’m glad nobody was actually injured. I’m sorry for the people involved.”

Mays was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest. He has since bonded out.
