Texas to face Oklahoma State in Big 12 Championship Game

The game will kickoff at 11 a.m. on Dec. 2 in Arlington.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns now know their opponent for the upcoming Big 12 Championship Game.

The Longhorns will face Oklahoma State in Arlington to decide the conference champion on Dec. 2. Oklahoma State secured their spot after a come from behind, double overtime 40-34 win against BYU in the regular season finale.

Given the Big 12’s realignment this offseason, the Longhorns didn’t face the Cowboys this year, the first time since 1995 the two squads didn’t meet in the regular season.

Historically, the Longhorns have dominated the Cowboys, holding a 26-11 record all-time. However, the Cowboys have controlled the series in recent history, winning seven out of the last 10 matchups.

Offensively, the Cowboys are unquestionably led by running back Ollie Gordon II, who’s rushed for over 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns on the season, including five in the season finale. Senior quarterback Alan Bowman has thrown for just over 2,500 yards and 10 touchdowns with nine interceptions while completing 59% of his passes. As a whole, the Cowboys have averaged just over 29 points per game this season.

The Cowboys were ranked No. 21 in the most recent College Football Playoff poll, and are likely to move up after the newest rankings are released on Tuesday.

Kickoff for the Big 12 Championship Game is slated for 11 a.m. on KVUE.
