Texas woman arrested for plotting to murder her ex-husband with fentanyl-laced chocolate, officials say

The woman tried to buy the fentanyl from an undercover investigator at a motel and was then arrested, officials say.

PARKER COUNTY, Texas — A Texas woman was arrested for allegedly plotting to kill her ex-husband by mailing him fentanyl-laced chocolate, officials say.

A protected source reported the woman, identified as Pamela Jean Stanley, 63, was planning to murder her ex-husband, sparking an investigation, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office

Stanley was recorded telling an acquaintance that she planned to buy powdered fentanyl and inject it into a box of high-end chocolate, which she intended to mail to her ex-husband, deputies say.

Stanley planned to make the chocolates appear to have come from a travel agency as a congratulatory gift to her ex-husband for his recent engagement, deputies say.

Undercover investigators worked with Stanley, who drove several hours from Coleman, which is about 200 miles southwest of Dallas, to try to buy the fentanyl, officials say.

Stanley met an undercover investigator in the parking lot of a motel, where she tried to buy the fentanyl, and she was immediately arrested after trying to make the purchase, deputies say.

Stanley was also found to have 9.5 grams of methamphetamine, officials say.

Stanley was indicted for criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, according to PCSO. Her total bond is set at $450,000.
