Puente said his 2-year-old daughter loves the snake. He just wants it back.
SAN ANTONIO — A priceless possession was taken from a San Antonio business. Owner of MP Repairs and Installations, Mario Puente, said a snake was stolen from his shop off Hillcrest and Babcock. Puente said his 2-year-old daughter loves the snake. He just wants it back.
“That is my daughter’s snake,” Puente said. “She is two-years-old. She loves that snake.”
Puente said surveillance cameras shows what happened, in the morning, of Feb. 8.
“I was getting ready to take my daughter to school,” Puente said.
Right after, Puente said he got an alert from the security company, and that’s when he checked his cameras from home.
“I said someone is in the shop, go ahead and send the cops,” Puente said.
He said at first, the thief broke his lock and then came back around 13 minutes later.
“He just walked into didn’t look like we was looking for anything particular grabbed a tray down here with like broken parts,” Puente said.
Puente said it looked like the man was going to walk out with just the parts. But, he said instead he turns around and pulled one of the two snakes from the tank. He said the snake is a ball python named ‘Roni’ after macaroni since it is yellow.
“It is a really nice color snake,” Puente said. “They are perfectly harmless, no venom, no fangs.”
Puente said given its color, it is worth money.
“The color that he was, and the morph it could be $200 to $300 $500,” Puente said.
Puente said he just wants Roni to be returned.
“I am worried that he got spooked and he let the snake go, I am hoping that is not the case,” Puente said. “I am just asking for the snake to be returned. Leave it in the box at the store overnight or something.”
Puente believes the man who took the snake came into his store the day before. He has photos of that man posted all over his business. KENS 5 asked San Antonio police if that is the man they are looking for, and we are still waiting to hear back.
SAPD said the investigation is ongoing.
