‘That’s what drives the fire of justice inside of me’ | Mother’s 9-year fight for justice continues in 2016 road-rage killing

New details learned by Lori Rocha, from the driver’s statement, has expanded the area of interest in the road-rage incident.

SAN ANTONIO — Nearly nine years after her son was shot and killed in a road-rage attack, Lori Rocha says she refuses to give up her search for justice.

On Saturday afternoon, Rocha stood along a northwest-side roadway, surrounded by family and friends, holding signs and reminding passersby that her son’s killer has never been caught.

“That’s my boy,” she said. “You killed an innocent person who didn’t deserve it.”

Her son, 25-year-old Aaron Rocha, was riding in the front passenger seat of a blue Ford Explorer on Nov. 26, 2016, when someone fired multiple shots at the vehicle.

Both Aaron and the driver were hit. The driver survived, but Aaron was shot in the head and died.

San Antonio Police have said the gunfire occurred on Huebner Road near Lockhill-Selma. However, Lori Rocha believes the confrontation may have begun earlier.

She says the driver’s account suggests the incident could have started at a Shell gas station on Blanco Road and Churchill Estates, near Wurzbach Parkway.

“We have expanded our area of interest where the road rage possibly could have started,” she said. “This street leads to Huebner, so it could have gone from here to Huebner.”

Rocha said losing her son shattered her faith in humanity, but it also fueled her determination to keep pushing for answers.

“That’s what drives the fire of justice inside of me for my son,” she said.

She continues to rely on her faith and on support from other families who have lost children to violence. Rocha hopes someone who knows what happened will finally come forward.

“If it was your son or your brother or your dad, you would want someone to call and report it,” she said. “I pray their heart would be softened and their tongue will be loosed.”

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.   If you have any information about this incident you can call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP.  Tipsters can remain anonymous.
