SAN ANTONIO — The Big Give was underway starting Wednesday, directly supporting South Texas nonprofits.
It’s a 24-hour online fundraiser on its 12th year, raising more than $50 million since it began. The money donated during the event helps uplift Texans who need it most.
Right now, many nonprofits are working with tighter budgets following federal and state fund cuts. And communities are rallying to help just to put food on the table and keep the lights on.
The Big Give is a way to help everyone get what they need 365 days a year.
All you have to do is visit the website here and click donate. From there, you’ll be able to select the nonprofits available to support and put in your own amount to give.
If you wait and check out the prizes tab, you can find match minutes where donors will help you stretch your dollars.
“For one minute. All of these funds are matched. The donors will be matched dollar for dollar, sometimes up to 100, sometimes up to 200 until the money runs out,” said Scott McAninch, Nonprofit Council CEO.
The first meeting minute on Thursday takes place from 8:30 to 8:35 am and The Big Give will be going on until 6 p.m. Thursday evening.
