Family confirms the discovery of Rudy Garza’s body after devastating flooding on the northeast side.

SAN ANTONIO — It’s the heartbreaking news the family of 61-year-old Rudy Garza knew was coming.

His daughter, Brittany Guerrero, told KENS 5 officials that they found her father’s body in the aftermath of the floods that took 15 cars down Perrin Beitel.

The family last heard from Garza when he called for help.

“He said ‘oh my God, Sylvia water is in my car,'” Garza’s daughter, Brittany Guererro, said.

She said her mother was on the phone with her husband Garza, when all of a sudden he told her he saw a sea of water.

“She’s like baby…they both said their ‘I love you’s’ and she said the call faded away.”

Guererro said they found his body Friday afternoon.

SAFD has confirmed 11 people died after rushing water swept 15 cars down Perrin Beitel early Thursday morning.

The medical examiner has identified three victims:

55-year-old Martha De La Torre Rangel, 28-year-old Victor Manuel Macias Castro and 51-year-old Matthew Angel Tufono.

Today, crews are using K-9s, drones, and crews on the ground to search for those who remain missing. An exact number is unclear.

SAFD says that number is going down, but that’s only based on the two main search areas for SAFD.

The Texas A&M task force has also been called in as a resource to help find more victims.

SAFD has also requested more resources from the state.
