The Well, a bar and dance hall that opened near the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2016, is going to serve up its last drinks to San Antonio patrons next week after six years in business. The bar posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday announcing its closure on December 31. But they aren’t saying goodbye forever.

Instead, the post says, the owners, Lauren and Owen Stanley will reopen the space at 5539 UTSA Blvd. as the family-friendly Big’z Burger Joint. The post says that the owner will begin converting the space into a Big’z starting January 17. The Stanleys are behind Big’z Burger Joint and say this conversion will make it the third location in San Antonio.

The first Big’z is located on the Far Westside near Sea World at 10106 TX-151 and another on the Northside at 2303 N Loop 1604 W Access Road. This location will be known as Big’z UTSA.

“At this location our capacity is nearly unlimited and we are looking forward to the ability to host your large events,” the post said.

The beer garden will be turned into a kids play area and the owners will keep the full-service bar while hosting live music from time to time. The Well will be celebrating its last days in service from December 27 to December 31.
