The Library is the kind of spot visitors can stumble into and immediately feel like they’ve escaped the noise without leaving the downtown area.
SAN ANTONIO — If you’ve ever wandered the River Walk wishing for a quiet nook to sip cocktails and browse lightly-used books, there’s a new hideout calling your name. It’s called The Library Cocktail Lounge and it’s exactly what it sounds like: part speakeasy, part library, all in San Antonio.
The Library Cocktail Lounge is less than two blocks away from the Alamo. The cozy lounge opened a few weeks ago under The Maverick, the well-known downtown apartment hotel. Guests can find The Library at 606 N Presa Street, suite LL 102.
Inside the lounge, guests will find shelves-on-shelves of books paired with portraits of comedy legends like Robin Williams, George Carlin, Richard Pryor and Joan Rivers. And that’s no accident – next door is The Riot Comedy Club, the city’s newest comedy spot under The Maverick umbrella.
The Riot is a Houston-born comedy staple that’s currently expanding to multiple cities. Back in August, The Riot announced on social media that they were bringing the laughs to the Alamo City’s River Walk. Organizers said visitors can expect top comics from Texas and other areas, snacks with signature seasoning, themed shows, ticketed sets and open-mic nights for the next generation of funny folks.
Manager Rene Gonzales hopes guests will grab a delicious cocktail from The Library before heading to the Riot for a night of laughter.
The Library rolled out new menus a few days ago noting their Happy Hour, which occurs daily until 7 p.m.
The lounge is open seven days a week: Sunday – Thursday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m.
