These three SA-area school districts are increasing pay for teachers this school year

San Antonio ISD, Northside ISD and North East ISD have released their plans for the fall semester.

SAN ANTONIO — School’s out for summer, but some districts are already planning for fall, especially when it comes to pay.

The latest is San Antonio ISD. The district’s board of trustees approved raises for its staff Monday night during a board meeting. Northside ISD greenlit a salary increase for all full-time employees a week ago. And North East ISD will also pay it’s staff a little more this fall, too.

San Antonio ISD

The Board of Trustees at SAISD approved a 2% general pay increase for all full-time, permanent employees. That decision was made Monday night during a specially called board meeting at its district offices. Trustees also boosted starting teacher pay to $58,400, and agreed to bump stipends for bilingual and special education teachers to $5,000 dollars.

These benefits, in addition to others, will cost the district more than $10 million dollars. The superintendent says major cuts over the past three years have allowed them to do this. This comes after the district implemented its “right-sizing” plan that resulted in the closure of several schools.
