SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested after he submitted multiple disturbing rants through SAPD’s anonymous tip line, court records state.
Christopher Stowe, 31, allegedly used the tip line to make terroristic threats meant to cause public fear and disrupt government services, records state.
On Thanksgiving Day from about 1 p.m. to about 6:45 p.m., SAPD’s Tip411 digital reporting platform received multiple threatening submissions, allegedly from Stowe.
“I’m done and I’m going to do a mass shooting,” said one of the messages Stowe allegedly sent through the tip line at 1 p.m., per records. “I don’t want to but years of anger and dealing with unruly people have finally f***ing done it. I’m going to kill people unless the police kill me first.”
Other messages Stowe is accused of sending appeared to target the River Walk and Spurs games.
“My body count is hopefully gonna be over 100,” he allegedly said. “This is not a threat. This is a promise.”
SAPD considered these statements “threatening in nature,” adding they caused fear of serious bodily injury or even death towards San Antonio residents.
Officials started an investigation and obtained search warrants for digital records. They retrieved IP address logs and historical location data; the device was found to be located in proximity to Stowe’s known workplace and his address.
It doesn’t explicitly say where he worked in the arrest affidavit, but he mentioned McDonald’s a few times in his rants. The evidence, investigators found, pointed to Stowe being the person responsible for these rants.
According to jail records, Stowe was booked into the Bexar County jail Saturday on a $50,000 bond. He hasn’t been released as of Sunday.
