In a recent article about Biles’ history-making accomplishments in gymnastics, the newspaper posted a photo of teammate Shilese Jones, another Black gymnast.
HOUSTON — Simone Biles is the best gymnast on the planet and she made history recently by becoming the most decorated gymnast ever, male or female.
The superstar from Spring won the individual all-around title at the world championships in Belgium last week for the sixth time. It was Biles’ 27th world championship medal and 21st gold.
Biles now has 34 total medals from the world championships and Olympics combined.
Even with all that, someone at the Wall Street Journal apparently doesn’t know what she looks like. In an article about her accomplishments, they showed a photo of another Black gymnast, Biles’ teammate Shilese Jones.
Biles shared the WSJ post on X with the caption: “This picture isn’t even me… try again.”
The Wall Street Journal replied that the photo had been corrected but a lot of people are slamming them because they didn’t apologize to Biles for the error.
Aside from the fact that Biles and Jones look nothing alike, Jones is 5 inches taller than her.

Biles and Jones helped lead the U.S. women to a record seventh straight win in the team event in Belgium. Jones won bronze in all-around and uneven bars and advanced to the finals in balance beam and floor exercise.
With the Olympic Games in less than a year in Paris, Biles is back to her very best. And despite the fierce competition from Andrade and Jones, she remains a cut above the rest — a full decade after she started her reign.

Biles has been dominant ever since returning following a two-year break after her appearance in the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Olympics was plagued by a bout with a mental block known as “ the twisties.” She was expected to repeat as the individual all-around champion in Tokyo but removed herself from the competition to focus on her mental well-being.
