Thousands brave the extreme cold to celebrate the 38th annual MLK March in San Antonio

It’s known as the largest MLK March in the nation. The purpose behind why each person is marching is almost as diverse as the people themselves.

SAN ANTONIO — Equality, remembrance, unity and love – are the missions upheld by so many who were in attendance of this year’s MLK March.

For marchers like Jacqueline Samuel she’s passing the tradition of attending the March to her children.

“My first MLK March, I was ten years old,” Samuel said. “So I’ve marched for over 30 years. And so, I learned when I was ten years old that it was important, it’s still important.”

Her son, Charles Samuel believes San Antonio is diverse and is known for it’s culture.

“We’re marching for those who never had freedom,” Charles said. “And we’re marching for our future generations.”

Visiting from Dallas, Robin Beasley says it’s time to put thoughts into action.

“It’s time for us to show more love than hatred,” Beasley said. “It’s good for all of us to sit down and realize what our blessings have been. And figure out what we can do to help. California is going through a lot they actually need help financially and for prayer.”

One step at a time, thousands today were moving toward progress for a brighter future.
