DALLAS — Over 1,000 flights have been canceled in North Texas as the ongoing winter storm continues to move through the Metroplex.
The bulk of the cancellations on Sunday were for Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, where over 800 flights on Sunday morning had already been cancelled, according to Flight Aware.
The winter weather was expected to begin in North Texas late Friday night and into Sunday, with sleet, freezing rain and snow all a possibility across North Texas through the weekend.
Thousands of flights were cancelled at DFW and Dallas Love Field Airports on Saturday, which will likely have a knock-on effect through early this week. Already, dozens of flights are expected to be cancelled on Monday.
Dallas Love Field, which has significantly fewer daily flights than DFW Airport, had 249 cancellations for Sunday, as of early Sunday morning.
