SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs‘ losing skid extends to 15 in a row after losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves 102-94 on the road. Spurs are 0-2 versus the Wolves this season.
Victor Wembanyama finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Doug McDermott recorded 11 points. Zach Collins had 12 points and eight rebounds in the loss. Jeremy Sochan had six points and zero assists. Keldon Johnson added 21 points and 10 rebounds. Devin Vassell recorded 22 points.
The Spurs also trotted out a new starting unit with Wembanyama, Vassell, Collins, Keldon Johnson, and Cedi Osman.
The Spurs are 3-17 on the season, and will next host the Chicago Bulls Friday night and welcome back ex-Spur DeMar DeRozan.
Here’s a sample of what the teams said after the game.
Gregg Popovich:
“I think they did well. It’s the best team in the west, we gave them a good run. If you shoot 8-37 from three (point line) you’re going to have a tough night and a whole lot of things got to be perfect after that. Can’t make many mistakes. We’re making mistakes but I thought their competitiveness was great. Execution is getting better all the time.”
Wembanyama
“I think collectively we started very solid on defense but of course, I can do better. There was a lot of good in that game. It’s what we are trying to keep and erase the bad.”
“We got to take everything we can to get better.”
“I think we were really good defensively. Even though that third quarter they [Wolves], they made a run, we still you know managed, and we finished a tight game, you know before the score was tied before the fourth quarter.”
