Times are changing: Buffs fans look to the future after bowl game loss

Fans in Boulder who went to The Sink to watch the Alamo Bowl told 9NEWS it’s the end of the season but the beginning of something special.

BOULDER, Colo. — On Saturday, Colorado took on BYU in the Alamo Bowl and lost, 36-14.

But fans in Boulder who went to The Sink to watch the game told 9NEWS that while it’s the end of the season, it’s the beginning of something special.

“I know CU was a powerhouse back before I was born — it’s great to see we are coming back into that and it’s great to hang out with friends and talk about this,” said McCaffrey Bray.

Bray said he and several of his friends have watched CU Buffaloes football games together since their time in Boulder.

Liam Kurz admitted that when he went to CU, Buffs football wasn’t always a pleasure to watch.

“When we were here, people would go to games and at halftime leave to go do something better but now we have a football team worth watching,” he said.

This group of friends admitted things have changed.

“It was never like this, just to see how relevant they are on a national stage,” said Kurz.

“Just everywhere you go you see people wearing CU jerseys and more local businesses selling CU merch,” said Hayden Smith.

On Saturday Bray told 9NEWS it’s an exciting time to be a Buffs fan.

“Hopefully, we continue to build on this going into next year,” said Bray.
