Toby crowned El Rey Fido XXIV at Fiesta coronation for pets

San Antonio’s top fundraising dogs traded leashes for royalty to help homeless animals.

SAN ANTONIO — Move over, human royalty—Fiesta’s most adorable court has officially taken the throne.

The El Rey Fido Coronation returned Saturday morning at Hops & Hounds, where San Antonio’s most philanthropic pups were honored in true Fiesta fashion.

This year’s top dog was Toby Tomas Rosette Davis, who raised more than $17,600 to be crowned El Rey Fido XXIV.

Joining the royal court were:

  • Leroy Brown – Prince of the Food Bowl
  • Finn – Duke of the Chew Toy
  • Bocephus – Duke of the Fire Hydrant
  • Leroy – Knight of the Royal Court

The annual event benefits the San Antonio Humane Society and helps fund care for homeless dogs and cats in the community.

El Rey Fido began in 2002 as a playful nod to Fiesta royalty traditions, but it has grown into a beloved fundraiser that has raised tens of thousands of dollars over the years.

And yes—there were crowns, sequins, velvet and plenty of wagging tails.

Because in San Antonio, Fiesta isn’t complete until the dogs get their day.
