Top eight candidates to debate Tuesday in Mayoral Debate

There are a total of 27 candidates running for mayor in the May 3 election.

SAN ANTONIO — Hundreds in the community are expected to attend to hear from the top eight candidates running for San Antonio Mayor in a debate being held by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Tuesday.

The candidates are expected to address important topics in the city, from Project Marvel, to affordable housing, and public safety among other subjects.

The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce chose the top eight candidates based off of fundraising and polling data.

In total, 27 candidates are going to be on the mayoral ballot for the May 3 election.

The latest UTSA poll shows that 35% of voters are undecided who they’re going to vote for and 20% are unfamiliar with any of the candidates running.

Seats for City Council are also up for grabs in the May election.

Early voting starts on April 22 and will last a week. The election is on May 3.

Tuesday’s debate will be held at the Carver Community Cultural Center  on North Hackberry beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 7:15 p.m.
