The estimated street value of the meth allegedly found in Ramiro Torres-Huato’s truck is estimated to be about $200,000.
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — A traffic stop for an expired registration led to the discovery of six kilograms of meth in east Bexar County, BCSO says.
On Monday at around 1:30 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on a pickup truck with an expired registration. During a roadside interview, it was found that the driver, Ramiro Torres-Huato, didn’t have a valid driver’s license.
A K9 unit was deployed for a free-air sniff around Torres-Huato’s truck, signifying that narcotics may be inside. After a search by deputies, a large white trash bag was found on the floor passenger floorboard. Six gallon-sized bags containing a crystal-like substance were found in the bag. That substance was determined to be six kilograms of methamphetamine by deputies. The street value of this amount of meth is estimated to be about $200,000.
Torres-Huato was then arrested.
Officials say he did not cooperate during questioning. He was eventually charged with possession with intent to distribute over five kilograms of meth.
