‘Tragic accident’ | Woman in critical condition after being struck by car at San Antonio intersection

SAPD said the woman was “crossing the street diagonally, not using the crosswalk” before she was struck by a driver who allegedly did not see her.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department is at an east-side intersection investigation a crash that left a woman hospitalized in critical condition.

Around 11:45 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and IH-10 East after receiving reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.

Preliminary reports suggest the woman, estimated to be in her 60s, was “crossing the street diagonally, not using the crosswalk” before she was struck by a driver who did not see her, according to SAPD.

Authorities say the driver stayed on the scene and it is unknown at this time if any charges will be filed.

SAPD said the woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and that this “could be a tragic accident.”

This is an ongoing investigation.
