SAN ANTONIO — A Union Pacific train collided with an 18-wheeler Monday afternoon causing major traffic delays in Schertz, officials said.
Schertz Police posted on Facebook about responding to a big accident at the intersection of Schertz Parkway and FM 78, near FM 3009 around 3 p.m.
Officials say the train struck an 18-wheeler, which was carrying several Acadian Ambulances. The train did not derail.
According to a press release from Schertz police, the driver of the 18-wheeler was able to exit the vehicle and report the crash to Union Pacific using the number posted on the crossing sign. No injuries were reported.
Police said the train is blocking both the Schertz Parkway and FM 3009 intersections. Drivers should expect delays and consider using alternate routes. The intersection will remain closed until repairs are completed.
Officials said the incident is under investigation.
