SAN ANTONIO — The Rotary Ice Rink, which is quickly becoming a San Antonio tradition, is returning to Travis Park this holiday season.
The rink kicked off Friday, Nov. 22, with a festive opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting event which included a figure-skating demonstration. The ice rink, located at 301 E Travis St., will remain open through January 5, 2025.
There will be several exciting events throughout the season including free military and first responders skating on Mondays and visits with Santa on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., except for Dec. 1.
The Rotary Ice Rink is now in its fifth year, and is now a beloved fixture of the holidays in downtown San Antonio. And the organization uses the activity as a fundraiser for its charity missions. Proceeds from the event go to community efforts such as scholarships, playground construction, and initiatives to combat food insecurity in San Antonio.
Meanwhile, the annual Travis Park Christmas Tree was put into place earlier in the week. The official tree lighting ceremony will take place on Nov. 29.
