SAN ANTONIO — The blockbuster deal between the San Antonio Spurs and the Sacramento Kings that sent De’Aaron Fox to the Spurs also meant San Antonio is parting ways with Tre Jones and Sidy Cissoko.
Jones was sent to the Bulls, and Cissoko to the Kings as part of the three-team deal.
Following the news, both former Spurs posted goodbye messages on social media to thank the team, city, and fans for their support.
“Thank you San Antonio, for everything. I came in as a 20 year old kid and y’all gave me and my family a special 4 years that we’ll forever be grateful for. The fans were amazing and showed nothing but love and support. I will forever have love for San Antonio,” Jones shared.
“Thank you very much for everything, San Antonio. It has been a pleasure to play in this jersey,” Sidy posted in Spanish.

Jones and Cissoko’s contributions to the franchise will undoubtedly be highlighted when they return to San Antonio as members of the Bulls and Kings. You can expect a video tribute and fans cheering them ahead of the game.
The Spurs drafted Jones in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft, and Cissoko was drafted in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft.
Jeremy Sochan also expressed his appreciation for Jones, Cissoko, and Zach Collins in messages posted on his social media.
OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL! FOX IS A SPUR
The Spurs announced that the team acquired guards De’Aaron Fox and Jordan McLaughlin from the Sacramento Kings in a three-team deal that also includes the Chicago Bulls, in exchange for Jones, Zach Collins, Cissoko, two conditional first-round picks (2025 from Chicago, 2025 from Charlotte), two unprotected first-round picks (2027 from San Antonio, 2031 from Minnesota) and two second-round picks (2025 from Chicago, 2028 from Denver).
The team also announced that Fox will wear No. 2. Kawhi Leonard was the last player to wear No. 2.
Fox posted a message on social media expressing his gratitude to Sacramento and wishing he had finished his career with the Kings.
The Spurs now have a running mate for Victor Wembanyama, with Fox in uniform. This season, he has averaged 25.2 points, five rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game and has shot 46.8% from the field.
The dynamic guard will provide a legitimate scoring threat and be a perfect pick-and-roll partner with Wemby.
