Trial set for man involved in 2021 death of 4-year-old

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — After more than 900 days in jail, trial is set to go forward for Ezekiel Ramirez who is facing murder charges in connection with the 2021 death of 4-year-old Knox Longoria.

Ezekiel Ramirez appeared before Judge Missy Medary Thursday afternoon.

In June 2021 police were called to Driscoll Children’s Hospital, where Knox was being treated for severe injuries and later died from those injuries at the hospital.

Trial for Ramirez is set for Monday, Jan. 22.

The boy’s mother, Bethany Bernal, also faces charges for injury to a child by omission.
