DALLAS — A truck with a trailer got stuck in an apparent sinkhole in Dallas on Monday morning.
The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Riverway Drive in southeast Dallas, near North Prairie Creek Road and Bruton Road.
When Dallas Fire-Rescue crews arrived, they found a pickup truck and trailer in a sinkhole. Video footage from witnesses at the scene showed a truck’s trailer that was stuck in a sinkhole. Helicopter footage later showed a truck that had been towed near the sinkhole and the hole that had opened up in the middle of the road.
Neighbors said they heard a loud noise that sounded like a crash. One neighbor said she came outside and saw that a pickup truck with a trailer had fallen in a hole in the middle of the street. That neighbor helped the driver and called police. She told WFAA that the driver, Kim Johnson, lives in the neighborhood.
Johnson’s wife told WFAA that he was taken to Baylor Scott & White for treatment.
Dallas Fire-Rescue officials said they were unable to confirm if the sinkhole opened underneath the truck or if the driver of the truck drove into an already present sinkhole.
