PLEASANTON, Texas — Pleasanton Police said the frantic call for help came in after 5 a.m. on Thursday morning at the corner of Sixth Street and Pleasanton Avenue.
A mother called to say she had found two of her children, both boys, bleeding and unresponsive in a shed behind her home.
“Upon arrival, our officers determined the two males were deceased and our Criminal Investigation Division were called to begin their investigation,” said Pleasanton Police Chief Ernest Guerra.
Guerra said they made progress early on.
“With the help of Texas Rangers we were able to develop some suspects of interest and they are currently being interviewed,” Guerra said.
Crime scene tape protects a large area around the house.
“Currently our detectives are spread out throughout the city processing three total possible locations for evidence,” said Guerra. “We found evidence all over.”
Pleasanton patrol officers later located the two juvenile suspects in a vehicle – with evidence inside linking the suspects to the murder. The two suspects were taken to the police department and met with Judge Carrasco to be magistrated and questioned, Guerra said in a statement Friday morning.
Detectives believe the two suspects intended to rob the two teenage victims when something went wrong. One of the suspects allegedly shot both victims in the small shed behind the home where they were found. Authorities also located what they believe is the murder weapon, according to the statement from Guerra.
The two suspects have been charged with two counts of capital murder and were transported to Atascosa County Juvenile Detention Center.
The victims were taken to the Ford Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Pleasanton PD said this is still an active investigation. Guerra said he didn’t believe the killings were a threat to the community.
