Two arrested in identity theft case, BCSO searching for another suspect

Bexar County deputies are seeking Jeremy Saunders, alleged mastermind behind a complex identity-theft ring, as two associates face fraud and forgery charges.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man accused of running an identity-theft and forgery operation after deputies uncovered fraudulent documents, stolen mail, and counterfeit mailbox keys tied to a vehicle purchased under a stolen identity.

The case began on Nov. 28, 2025, when a victim reported receiving a dealership letter congratulating him on buying a 2022 Cadillac XT6 he never purchased. Investigators learned the vehicle was registered to Jeremy Saunders, who has a history involving possession of identifying information.

On Dec. 1, while deputies were following up with the dealership, employees reported a man attempting to buy another vehicle using a fraudulent ID. Before deputies arrived, SAPD officers said the same Cadillac had just pulled into the lot. Deputies detained the driver, 42-year-old Lloyd Marshal Garza, who said Saunders was his roommate and had created the fake IDs he was using. A second man inside the dealership, 23-year-old Jose Roel Avila, was also detained after trying to buy a 2025 model vehicle valued at more than $55,000.

A search of the Cadillac revealed replica mailbox keys, a stolen insurance check stub, multiple fraudulent IDs, and a fake insurance card. The next day, investigators confirmed Saunders had used fraudulent Texas identification and forged the victim’s signature to obtain the Cadillac. A follow-up investigation and search warrant led deputies to a forgery setup containing printers, specialized ID-making materials, stolen credit cards and checks, counterfeit mailbox-key equipment, and a ledger listing victims’ personal information.

Garza was arrested on fraud, forgery, mailbox-key, and license-related charges. Avila was arrested on charges related to fraud, forgery, and attempting to obtain property with a false statement. Both were booked into the Bexar County Jail.

Deputies are now seeking Jeremy Saunders, who is wanted for making a false statement to obtain property or credit valued between $30,000 and $150,000 and remains a person of interest in the broader identity-theft investigation.
