SAN ANTONIO — Two Guadalupe County Sheriff deputies are fired after being accused of assault and family violence.
The sheriff’s office says they learned about the alleged crimes on January 3 and terminated both deputies Friday.
Investigators learned deputies Jillian Heard and Oscar Castillo reportedly committed assault and family violence causing bodily injury in separate incidents.
A review was done by the sheriff’s criminal investigation division alongside an independent internal review.
In both cases, Heard and Castillo were identified in multiple violations on and off the job.
No additional details were given on the relationship between the two former deputies.
In a statement, Sheriff Joshua Ray said it’s unfortunate two promising young deputies made decisions that will now impact their careers and personal lives.
Sheriff Ray went on to say those who commit to wearing our badge are held to a higher standard, and there is no room for violating the very laws we have sworn to enforce.
The sheriff’s office is now charging Heard and Castillo for assault-family violence and will present their findings to the county attorney’s office.
