Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan welcomed 2026 with double the joy as two baby girls were born just minutes apart after midnight.
SAN ANTONIO — The New Year rang in with double the cuddles and twice the smiles at Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan, where two babies were born just minutes apart after midnight.
The hospital’s Labor & Delivery unit welcomed its very first baby of 2026 just 51 seconds after midnight. A healthy baby girl named Snaya San Martin Esuijarosa made her grand debut at 12:00:51 a.m., weighing 5 pounds, 5 ounces and measuring 19 inches long. Proud parents Amaya Esuijarosa and Yosuany San Martin Reyes are first-time parents and couldn’t be happier to start the year with such a special milestone.
And the celebration didn’t stop there.
Less than three minutes later, in a nearby delivery room, another New Year’s baby arrived. Kali Amor Bautista was born at 12:03:07 a.m., weighing 8 pounds and measuring 20 inches long. Her parents, Melissa Jose and Juan Bautista, say welcoming their daughter at such a memorable moment made the occasion even sweeter.
“There isn’t a more exciting or special way to ring in the new year than with the arrival of not one, but two precious babies — especially our city’s first of the year,” said Sunni Garrett, Director of Women’s Services at Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan. She added that the energy in the unit was “palpable” as staff shared the joyful moment with both families.
Hospital CEO Greg Seiler echoed the excitement, calling the arrivals a meaningful reminder of why the team does what it does. “Welcoming San Antonio’s first two babies of the year is a joyful reminder of why we do what we do,” Seiler said.
Methodist Healthcare delivers more babies than any other hospital system in San Antonio, providing expert obstetric care with a focus on safety, comfort, and compassion.
Two babies, one unforgettable start to 2026, and a whole lot of love to kick off the New Year.
