Two of Texas’ 10 most wanted fugitives arrested in coordinated efforts

Texas has captured two of its 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, including Brian Kieth Coleman in Waco, who was wanted for indecency with a child since December 2025.

WACO, Texas — Two of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Fugitives have been captured and are now back in custody, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Texas DPS says Brian Kieth Coleman, 39, was taken into custody Feb. 23, 2026, after a traffic stop coordinated with DPS Special Agents, members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Texas Highway Patrol troopers.

Coleman had been previously arrested by the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office for indecency with a child by sexual contact in September 2023. On Dec. 10, 2025, he was again arrested for violation of a bond/protective order before being bonded out of jail.

Coleman had been wanted by Texas DPS since Dec. 29, 2025, after a warrant out of McLennan County for indecency with a child by sexual contact was issued. A reward of up to $3,000 was posted for his arrest, but as his arrest was not from tip information, it will not be paid.

The other man arrested, 40-year-old Carl James Hegert, was arrested at an apartment complex in Houston.  Texas DPS Criminal Investigation Division Special Agents, members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force and THP Troopers located and arrested Hegert Feb. 18, 2026.

Hegert had been convicted of several crimes, including firearm theft, sexual assault of a child, assault causing bodily injuriy to a family member, failure to register as a sex offender and manufactory or delivery of a controlled substance. He had previously been discharged from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Jan. 2025, but had been wanted since a warrant out of Waller County for larceny was issued in Oct. 2025. Hegert was also wanted out of San Jacinto County for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

Up to $3,000 was also promised as a reward for information leading to the capture of Hegert, but as his arrest was not tip based no reward will be paid out.
