EDDY COUNTY, N.M. — The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the two people found dead in the county during the week of July 28. Both individuals were identified as 55-year-old Nathan Scott McGee and 63-year-old Patricia Balderrama. They were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds when deputies arrived on the scene, according to Sheriff Matt Hutchinson.
What we know
Hutchinson reported that deputies responded to the Pecos River Oilfield Services in the 100 block of South Donaldson Farms Road on July 30 because of two unconscious adults.
When deputies arrived on the scene, the sheriff’s office and Eddy County Fire and Rescue personnel determined it was too late to resuscitate them. Neither was breathing and had apparent gunshot wounds.
Eddy County detectives are actively investigating in cooperation with the Office of the Medical Investigator, according to the sheriff. Autopsies were performed, and the two adults were identified as McGee and Balderrama of Carlsbad, New Mexico. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are under investigation.
Sheriff Hutchinson believes there are no suspects at large or a threat to the public.
