Two people shot in random attack by unknown suspect while inside their car, police say

Police say they were in a vehicle about to get on the highway when someone fired off multiple rounds at them.

SAN ANTONIO — Two people were injured after they were hit by gunfire while inside their car about to get on the highway, police say.

Police were dispatched to a hospital on McCullough Avenue around 1:45 a.m. near downtown for reports of a shooting.

Police say the two were in a car with friends when someone in an unidentified vehicle fired off rounds hitting a 16-year-old boy in his left forearm and a 19-year-old woman in her right ankle. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital on McCullough by their friends.

The other occupants in the vehicle were not injured and remained at the hospital to wait for officers. 

Both victims had non-life threatening injuries. 

When police find the suspect, they will face charges of Aggravated Assault- Deadly Weapon. 

This investigation remains ongoing.
