Two teens hospitalized after overnight shooting in Schertz, police searching for suspect vehicles

Police say two 17-year-old males were shot early Wednesday morning in a Schertz neighborhood. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.

SAN ANTONIO — Two teenagers were hospitalized after a shooting early Wednesday morning in a Schertz neighborhood, according to the Schertz Police Department.

Officers responded around 12:18 a.m. on March 4 to the 2100 block of Red Bud Way after receiving reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found two male victims with gunshot wounds. Police began providing first aid until Schertz EMS arrived and took over advanced life support.

Authorities say both victims are believed to be 17 years old. They were transported to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) for treatment. Police say one victim is in stable condition, while the other remains in serious condition. Next of kin for both teens have been notified.

Investigators say the scene remains active and the case is still developing.

Police believe two suspect vehicles were involved in the incident, a mid-size white four-door sedan and a black SUV. Both vehicles fled the area in an unknown direction.

Officials say investigators do not believe the shooting was random and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Anyone who may have seen something or has information related to the shooting is asked to contact the Schertz Police Department at (210) 619-1200.
