SAN ANTONIO — Drivers will get some relief from the traffic closures at I-10 and Loop 1604 during Spring Break this month.
TxDOT says it will minimize construction closures from March 7 to March 17. The closures will be limited to overnight hours only.

The major weekend closures that drivers have gotten used to will resume for the last two weekends of March, TxDOT says. Those weekends include March 21 – 24 and March 28 – 31 . These closures will allow crews to complete the installation of steel beams and continue the construction of flyover ramps.
The work at Loop 1604 is part of the Texas Clear Lanes project to expand 23 miles of Loop 1604 from SH 16 (Bandera Rd.) to I-35. The agency says the project will cost $1.4 billion. The project includes the expansion of mainlanes from a 4- to 10-lane expressway, high-occupancy vehicles (HOV) lanes in each direction, a multi-level interchange at I-10, an innovative intersection at Blanco Road, and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations on the frontage roads. The agency says most of the work is expected to be completed by 2027 with a few lingering projects extending into 2028.
TxDOT says all construction projects are subject to change and weather permitting. The agency recommends keeping track the following ways:
