TYLER, Texas — A Tyler man accused of assaulting a pregnant woman was arrested Thursday after officials say he initially refused to exit his home.
William Garret Bragg, 33, was wanted for assault of a pregnant woman. Smith County deputies tried to serve a warrant on Thursday at his home around 10 a.m. at his home on State Highway 31 East in Tyler. When deputies tried to contact Bragg, he refused to answer the door, and he also refused to leave the home, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said he sent a text message indicating he was not going to make it easy for law enforcement.
An investigator was able to get a search warrant to ultimately remove Bragg from his home. Once the search warrant was obtained, he saw the amount of law enforcement and decided to give up. Bragg walked out of the front door and was arrested without a problem, the SCSO said.
Bragg was booked into the Smith County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
