U.S. Navy bringing mixed-reality STEM experience to Reagan High School

The U.S. Navy will bring its high-tech “Strike Group” mixed-reality STEM experience to Reagan High School to showcase careers and ROTC scholarship opportunities.

SAN ANTONIO — The U.S. Navy is bringing a high-tech recruiting experience to San Antonio students this week.

On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the Navy will showcase its new “Strike Group” mixed-reality program at Ronald Reagan High School, giving students a hands-on look at STEM careers in the military and information about its $180,000 ROTC scholarship.

The mobile experience uses virtual and mixed-reality technology to simulate life and teamwork aboard an aircraft carrier, humanitarian missions around the world, and flying an F-35 fighter jet.

Navy officials say the goal is to introduce students to real-world technology and career paths in science, technology, engineering and math.

The “Strike Group” will also be on display Thursday, Jan. 22, at Floresville High School.
