KARNES CITY, Texas — A woman was rescued after falling inside a manhole 15 feet underground in Karnes City, according to witnesses.
It happened around 8 p.m. Saturday near the Stripes off Highway 181.
The woman’s brother, who was on the scene, said she walked to the gas station from her apartment. On her walk back through a field, she fell into the uncovered manhole in the middle of overgrown grass.
The woman did have her cell phone and was able to call 911. Family says she was rushed to BAMC in an ambulance with a broken leg.
