Universal City PD: 9-year-old child fatally stabbed, woman faces capital murder charge

Police said a boy died after he was discovered with stab wounds in Universal City on Wednesday. An adult female was taken into custody, but no arrests have made yet.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas — Universal City police said a 9-year-old boy is dead and a woman is facing charges after a stabbing early Wednesday morning.

According to police, officers responded to a call for a stabbing in the 8200 block of Zodiac Drive around 5 a.m. Upon arrival, officers located the caller who police said led them to a boy suffering from stab wounds.

Police and EMS began life-saving measures and the child – later identified as David Medina-Ehanire – was transported to the hospital. It was there, authorities said, that he was pronounced dead.

An adult female was taken into custody and faces a charge for capital murder, but she hasn’t been identified. 

Investigators are looking into what led up to the fatal stabbing. Universal City PD called the killing an isolated incident. 

‘We were totally shocked’: Neighbors question motive behind stabbing

Neighbors said they did not hear anything suspicious Wednesday morning, but woke up to a crime scene outside. They were questioned by police and told they are not in danger. 

“It’s just sad,” said one man who wanted to remain anonymous. 

The neighbors said a family of three lives in the home, including a father, mother and David. 

“They just seemed like a nice quiet little family,” said another neighbor, Lisa Billeck.

While police will not specify if David and the suspect are related, these neighbors are praying for everyone impacted. 

“All my thoughts and prayers go with the family and the community,” Billeck said. “It’s a tragic incident.”
