Unlicensed chiropractor charged with sexually assaulting patient; HCSO worried there may be other victims

The alleged victim said she went to Joshua Aaron Gomez in Katy for a misaligned pubic area that was causing her pain after childbirth.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An unlicensed chiropractor in Katy has been arrested on sexual assault charges, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

A patient told investigators that Joshua Aaron Gomez, 43, assaulted her in December 2023 at One Life Chiropractor on Fry Road.

The woman said she paid Gomez in advance for treatment of a very painful misaligned pubic area related to childbirth.

After multiple treatments, the patient complained to the front desk that it wasn’t working. That’s when she said Gomez took her back to his office, closed the door, and told her he would try something new that would cure her pain.

The woman told investigators that he used a Gastron Tool on her lower back and abdomen and then inserted his fingers into her vagina.

“This is where it gets spicy,” Gomez told her, according to court documents.

She said he then asked why she had a “weird” look on her face, and she told him she was uncomfortable.

She went home and told her husband, and they filed a complaint with the Texas Board of Chiropractors.

The woman later told Harris County investigators that she also had postpartum depression, and she believes Gomez took advantage of her mental state.

She said Gomez’s brother refunded her money and offered her free medical services.

According to court documents, Gomez surrendered his chiropractor license in 2019 after complaints of a “sexual nature.” It’s not clear whether he was ever charged in those alleged incidents.

Gomez’s brother, a chiropractor who owns the Katy office, told investigators that Gomez had been charged with sexual assault in McAllen. He said he hired him to do office work, but he wasn’t supposed to be treating patients.

Sheriff County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said his team has identified 12 other survivors with various complaints about Gomez, and they believe there may be other victims.
