UPDATE: Kingsville Border Patrol agent dead after head on collision Monday night

Brandon Brown, 46, of Corpus Christi has died after being taken to a local hospital following the head-on collision, per Harold Mallory with DPS.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — 8:45 AM UPDATE: A Kingsville Border Patrol agent has been identified as the man authorities said was transported to a Nueces County hospital Monday night after a head-on collision. 

Texas DPS confirmed Tuesday morning that 46-year-old Brandon Brown of Corpus Christi has died. 

He was an agent for almost 21 years, according to a Rod Kise with Border Patrol. 

Kleberg County Chief Deputy Jaime Garza said the agent was on his way to work when the crash happened, and that Brown later died of his injuries at a local hospital. 

The two drivers involved in the accident were Halo Flighted to a local hospital in Nueces County after the wreck on FM 70 near County Road 67 left them trapped in their vehicles before emergency personnel arrived on scene. 

Brown was in critical condition when first responders transported him. Authorities said he was driving a white 1998 Lexus ES before having to be extracted. He was traveling east on FM 70 when he and a female driver collided as she was travelling west. 

That female driver, now identified as 39-year-old Eva Rosa of Bishop, was in the black vehicle pictured below. She was reported to have had injuries when she was extracted from the car but was alert and talking. 

The incident happened at approximately 8:37 p.m., according to Pct. 3 Constable Jimmy Rivera. 

Both east and westbound lanes were closed for some time overnight while multiple agencies worked to investigate. 

Nueces County Constable Pct.3 Deputies, ESD 3 fire department, ESD 6 -Allegiance EMS, Annaville Fire, Nueces County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and others were all on scene. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Corpus Christi Highway Patrol Office.
