USPS will release 2026 lowrider stamps celebrating Chicano car culture, featuring iconic custom cars and detailed pinstriping.
SAN ANTONIO — The U.S. Postal Service is giving collectors and enthusiasts a first look at its 2026 stamp program, including a new set celebrating the artistry and culture of lowrider cars.
The “Lowriders” stamps pay tribute to the custom car culture rooted in Mexican American and Chicano communities of the Southwest dating back to the 1940s, according to a USPS press release.
The collection features five iconic vehicles: a blue 1946 Chevrolet Fleetline named Let the Good Times Roll/Soy Como Soy, a blue 1958 Chevrolet Impala Eight Figures, a red 1963 Impala El Rey, an orange 1964 Impala Golden Rose and a green 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Pocket Change.
Antonio Alcalá, art director for USPS, designed the stamps using photographs by Philip Gordon and Humberto “Beto” Mendoza. The Gothic-style typography and intricate pinstriping on the stamps reflect the detailed craftsmanship celebrated in lowrider culture, officials said.
“Low and slow: that’s the lowrider,” the release reads. “These customized automobiles trace their roots to 1940s-era working-class Mexican American/Chicano communities of the American Southwest.”
The stamps will be available nationwide in sheets and individual stamp formats, joining other 2026 releases that honor cultural icons, historical milestones, and popular American symbols. The preview also includes stamps featuring Muhammad Ali, Bruce Lee, Harriet Powers’ quilts and a set marking the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood.
“This early preview of our 2026 stamp program underscores the Postal Service’s commitment to celebrating the artistry and storytelling that make stamps so special,” said Lisa Bobb-Semple, USPS Stamp Services director. “From beloved series to bold new releases, we continue to honor the legacy of diverse subjects that connect people, places and moments in history.”
Collectors and fans can purchase stamps and related products online at the website here, by phone, mail or at select post offices nationwide.
The lowrider stamps provide a new way to celebrate Mexican American cultural contributions and resonate with communities like San Antonio’s, where Chicano car culture remains a vibrant and celebrated part of local heritage.
