Utility pole crane topples, injury driver and bringing down power lines, SAFD says

The driver was taken to the hospital with a gash on his head.

SAN ANTONIO — A utility pole planter crane tipped over early Tuesday, bringing down power lines and trapping the driver, SAFD says.

It happened on the I-35 access road, in between Space Center and Goldfield Road around 4:15 a.m.

Officials say that once CPS Energy de-energized the lines, the crane operator was able to get out on his own. SAFD says the man had a big gash on his head. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

No other injuries were reported.

We are checking to see if any power outages were caused by the incident.

This is a developing story.
