UTSA earns No. 2 seed at 2025 NCAA Austin Regional, aims to end winless regional drought

This is UTSA’s fourth trip to the regional, but the Roadrunners are hoping this time is different and they earn their first-ever regional win.

SAN ANTONIO — After an unforgettable regular season, the UTSA Roadrunners have earned their first-ever at-large bid to the NCAA Austin Regional.

Entering the tournament, the American Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions learned their 44-13 season was good enough to earn them the No. 2 seed, the highest ranking the Roadrunners have been given in any regional appearance.

From Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1, UTSA will face off against the No. 1 Texas Longhorns, No. 3 Kansas State Wildcats and the No. 4 Houston Christian Huskies at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin, Texas.

This marks the Roadrunners’ fourth trip to regionals in program history. UTSA is hoping this trip is different as they have never won a game and are 0-6 in regional play.

They get their first crack at breaking that streak on Friday at 6 p.m. against the No. 3 Kansas State Huskies.

The winner will play the winner of the Texas vs. Houston Christian matchup on Saturday.

In the regular season, UTSA had their way with both of the teams they could face in the second round as they routed the Huskies  12-1 back in February and beat the Longhorns 8-7 back on March 18.

But first, the Roadrunners have to get their first-ever regional win before thinking about who they might play on Saturday.
