SAN ANTONIO — Results of a poll done by UTSA will be released Tuesday. It’s over the upcoming mayoral race, which has nearly 30 candidates vying for the seat in May.
The poll looked into voter insights, specifically surveyors’ awareness and preferences of the candidates.
It’s a very crowded field for San Antonio mayor this year.
A total of 27 people are looking to succeed Mayor Ron Nirenberg who is term limited.
The poll was done by UTSA’s Center for Public Opinion Research.
Participants were asked about their thoughts on seven different items including major topics like Project Marvel, a new Spurs arena, a new Missions stadium and VIA’s Rapid Green Line project.
Not connected to this poll but still on the topic of elections, this will be the first election under a new administrator.
Michele Carew has succeed Jaqcue Callanen, who held the role for years.
After being formally introduced Monday, Carew spoke to the community about her goals and challenges she faces.
“So my challenge will be honestly, finding more election workers and, anyone that’s bilingual, those are the main challenges right now that I see,” said Carew.
Election day for the race is May 3, and early voting begins next month.
As for Tuesday’s first mayoral race poll, that will be released online at 10 a.m.
We’ll be sure to bring you the results.
