AUSTIN, Texas — A day after winning their first NCAA regional game in program history, UTSA took on Texas Longhorns in Austin.
The Longhorns got out to an early lead before UTSA tied the game with a sac fly in the second.
Then Texas created breathing room with a five-run third inning. The big hit was a two-run double from Jonah Williams and they led 6-1 going into the fourth.
In the fifth, UTSA put together some rally time as Ty Hodge sent one up the middle that scored two runs, cutting the lead to 6-3.
James Taussig lined a run-scoring double to the wall in right center field.
As the game reached its later innings, the Roadrunners did what they have done all season, rally.
An amazing three-run two-out rally in the sixth inning saw Nathan Hodge send a line drive into center field and then Mason Lytle capped the inning off with an RBI hit between short and third.
In the top of the ninth, James Taussig recorded his fourth hit of the night with a two-out safety squeeze bunt past the pitcher to bring in an insurance RBI heading into the bottom of the ninth.
UTSA closed it off in the ninth to complete the epic comeback 9-7.
The Roadrunners will face off against the winner of the Texas vs. Kansas State game on Sunday.
