Vacant house destroyed after fire breaks out on northwest side of city, SAFD says

No injuries were reported.

SAN ANTONIO — A fire broke out at a vacant house on the northwest side that threatened to spread to a nearby business Wednesday night, San Antonio fire officials say.

The San Antonio Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the 1200 block of W Laurel Street near N Colorado Street around 8:17 p.m.

Officials say a person two block away from the home actually called in the fire after seeing the smoke.

Fire crews say the home did have power which caused a slight problem for firefighters but the flames were quickly put out in under 15 minutes.

Eight fire crews were called to the location, SAFD says.

Fire officials say they expect to see more vacant house fires since they tend to happen more frequently during the colder months.

No one was home at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported, officials say.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
